About This Workshop:
Participants will experience a grounding tea ceremony followed by the creation of a patchwork bojagi tea mat using reclaimed natural-fiber textiles. The emphasis will be on mindful hand sewing and sustainable creativity.
What You’ll Learn
● Learn how to choose and work with second-hand natural fiber textiles (cotton, linen, silk) in an intentional, low-waste way
● Explore simple design principles for laying out your patchwork tea mat using color, shape, and balance
● Cultivate mindfulness through stitching — learning how rhythm, breath, and attention to detail create a calming creative flow
● Gain insight into Korean patchwork traditions and the value of reuse, repair, and
resourcefulness in textile art
● Complete a unique, hand-sewn patchwork tea mat or coaster to use, gift, or display —infused with your own aesthetic and care
Materials List (provided in class):
● Second-hand natural fiber fabrics (prewashed, sorted by color/texture)
● Thread (cotton or silk)
● Hand-sewing needles
● Scissors/snips
● Ironed base mats
● Self-healing cutting mats
● Rotary cutters
● Tea pot and cups
● Korean tea (blooming flowers + sticky rice puehr)
● Printed stitch diagrams or how-to zine
● Pins or clips
● Optional: incense for tea moment

REFUND POLICY
Classes/Workshops and Camps: Redux Contemporary Art Center may cancel any class with insufficient enrollment; students will be notified and given a full refund. If a student withdraws at least 48 hours before the class begins, they will be refunded their tuition minus an administrative fee. If a student withdraws within 48 hours before the class begins, no refunds will be given. Students are not enrolled until complete payment is received. Redux will not pro-rate or offer make-up days for student absences.
