Description:

Learn to take better photographs using the camera you already carry with one of our current Lightning Residents, Cody Mathews!

In this hands-on workshop, you'll explore the fundamentals of photography, including lighting, composition, and exposure, while learning how to get the most out of your smartphone's camera.

After a brief introduction to traditional photography techniques and your phone's built-in camera tools, you'll put your new skills to work at a series of photography stations. Experiment with different subjects, lighting setups, backgrounds, and compositions to see how small adjustments can completely transform an image.

Through guided exercises, you'll explore how to control light, frame your subjects, and approach the same photograph in multiple ways. Whether you're interested in photographing artwork, food, everyday objects, or people, you'll leave with practical techniques you can continue using long after the workshop.

Classes/Workshops and Camps: Redux Contemporary Art Center may cancel any class with insufficient enrollment; students will be notified and given a full refund. If a student withdraws at least 48 hours before the class begins, they will be refunded their tuition minus an administrative fee. If a student withdraws within 48 hours before the class begins, no refunds will be given. Students are not enrolled until complete payment is received. Redux will not pro-rate or offer make-up days for student absences.
