Looking to loosen up in your creative practice? In this 2-hour workshop, you’ll use a large tabletop still life as a starting point for exploring abstraction through a series of guided sketching exercises.
Rather than focusing on drawing objects exactly as you see them, you’ll experiment with techniques like simplifying shapes, playing with scale and repetition, cropping your composition, and exploring positive and negative space. These exercises will help you look beyond the object itself and discover new shapes, patterns, and compositions within what you see.
Come with a curious mind and leave with a booklet full of sketches, ideas, and compositions that can become starting points for future work.
This is a process-oriented class open to all experience levels.
All materials will be provided, but feel free to bring any sketching tools you're fond of!

REFUND POLICY
Classes/Workshops and Camps: Redux Contemporary Art Center may cancel any class with insufficient enrollment; students will be notified and given a full refund. If a student withdraws at least 48 hours before the class begins, they will be refunded their tuition minus an administrative fee. If a student withdraws within 48 hours before the class begins, no refunds will be given. Students are not enrolled until complete payment is received. Redux will not pro-rate or offer make-up days for student absences.
