This 6-week class will be an introduction to hands-on techniques of drawing with Charcoal. With a primary focus on reductive drawing techniques, also known as subtractive drawing, students will learn various techniques to manipulate the medium of charcoal from observation. Perfect for beginners, this course explores how to create dramatic, expressive images by removing charcoal from a toned surface—revealing highlights, textures, and form through erasure. No prior experience necessary—just curiosity and a willingness to get your hands a little dirty!

REFUND POLICY

Classes/Workshops: Redux Contemporary Art Center may cancel any class with insufficient enrollment; students will be notified and given a full refund. If a student withdraws at least 48 hours before the class begins, they will be refunded their tuition minus an administrative fee. If a student withdraws within 48 hours before the class begins, no refunds will be given. Students are not enrolled until complete payment is received. Redux will not pro-rate or offer make-up days for student absences.
